Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful break. I am happy to be back and see all the students.
Before I continue, I must say thank you again to our terrific room moms, Mrs. Henderson and Mrs. Bowling. They, along with other parents, provided our class with an amazing holiday breakfast and party! It was a wonderful morning. Thanks also to everyone who was generous to me and gave me a present. I enjoyed everything, my son enjoyed the candy and cookies, and I still have some gift cards to use! Thank you so much! This week we will start our new unit on opinion writing, and we will finish writing about our #2017OneWord. Big Shanty's one word for 2017 is "kind". Do you have a one word for this year? Check on the other pages to see more information, and have a great week! Looks like winter is on its way! I sure enjoyed sitting in front of my fireplace on Sunday!
This week we will have our first ever Menchie's night on Tuesday. Please plan on joining us from 4-7 p.m. Our drummers will be performing at 6 p.m. Please don't forget that the 5th grade is going to the Symphony on Friday the 9th. We request that the students be dressed appropriately in their best outfits. It will be such a wonderful experience for them! Two and a half weeks left until we leave for our Winter Break. That means we will be working very hard to wrap up our informational writing and other Language Arts standards we still need to master this 9 weeks. Hopefully I will see some of you on Tuesday at Menchies! Enjoy your week. Hello there!
I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! I want to give a quick thank you to those parents who sent in food or other items or came in and helped out for our Gobble Gobble Science day the Friday before our break. I think that the kids had a great time. We only have three and a half weeks until the end of the second nine weeks. I can hardly believe it. We will be working diligently to master those writing and language arts standards that need to be met this quarter. Please see the other pages on this blog for specific information relating to the content for this week. If you took a tag off of our giving tree in the lobby, please be sure to return all gifts by this Friday, 12/2. Thank you for your kind generosity as we try to give those less fortunate than us some much needed items for Christmas. Tuesday, Dec. 6th is Menchi's Night. Hope you can make it! Thank you for coming back to my blog to see what is happening in our class. Having three kids of my own, I know how challenging it can be to keep up with everything.
I have just a few reminders for you, and also want to redirect you to the other pages in the blog for curriculum and important dates. First of all, don't forget that there is NO SCHOOL next Tuesday! Secondly, please try to make it to our fun-filled STEM night on Thursday from 6-7:30. There are going to be so many cool things for everyone! Mrs. Ashmeade, Mrs. Vann, and myself will be making something cool. Come on by to see what it is! One last item, and this is VERY IMPORTANT! Please visit Mrs. Ashmeade's blog to see the information about our Gobble Gobble Science Day on Nov. 18th. We are looking for 8 parent volunteers, and the supplies to make this a successful learning opportunity for all the children in our 3 classes. This day is all about physical and chemical changes, and a very interactive experience for the kids. Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We could not do the wonderful, engaging things we do with the students if we did not have your full support!! Have a great weekend and a good week next week! Hello again,
